Yesterday, the tenth conference was held between the Port Said Governorate, led by Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, and Dr. Nour Al-Hoda Al-Gammal, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Mishkat Nour Foundation for Knowledge and Enlightenment, along with executive leaders. The conference aimed to address the problems of vulnerable families. Dozens of families from the alternative slum neighborhoods of Al-Dawahi and Al-Zohour attended the conference, which was held at the Ambassador Faiza Abu Al-Naja Hall in the Governorate's General Diwan.
Under the title of "Economic Empowerment," the Governor announced support for vulnerable Port Said families who are beneficiaries of the Foundation, in cooperation with Mishkat Nour, the Executive Authority of the Free Zone, and the owners and managers of factories in the south. This comes as part of the economic empowerment plan, which aims to employ productive families in a number of fields, including manufacturing, cooking, and trade.
The Governor expressed his happiness with these activities, which the Governorate supports as part of the economic empowerment program launched in Port Said Governorate, and with the blessing of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is keen to check on our people in the governorate and emphasizes the need to provide for all their needs. Major General Adel El-Ghadban revealed the new direction within the Economic Empowerment Program, which involves cooperation between the Port Said Governorate, the Free Zone Executive Authority, the Mishkat Nour Foundation, and South Port Said factories, known for their excellent products that are exported abroad. This cooperation will provide families with their factory products for trade. The Executive Authority will pay for the goods, and the Foundation will deliver them to the neediest families. When the families market them, they will pay for them. This is the beginning of a community project, pioneered by the Port Said Governorate, outpacing all other governorates in its ideas that serve the beneficiaries among our poor people. He added that the periodic meetings held with citizens bring them closer together to fulfill their demands, implement the President's directives, and work to raise citizens' incomes, in cooperation with civil society organizations such as Mishkat Nour. He thanked Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, for the services she provides and for undertaking a high-level educational and community service role. For her part, Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal thanked Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, for his constant and ongoing support for everything that serves Port Said and its people, especially those in need, to whom he gives unprecedented attention. He is the primary supporter of the plan to implement the economic empowerment program to raise citizens' incomes by educating and training them in various professions, whether from their homes, such as cooking through the Home Hospice project, or sewing, crochet, embroidery, and handicrafts. Finally, the women have succeeded in producing hundreds of packages of detergents, which they then supply to the governorate at prices at least 20% lower than similar products in the market, despite their high quality. Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal noted the Governor's approval to open new opportunities for the most needy families, support small traders, and stimulate commercial activity in Port Said in general. This is achieved by agreeing with factories to supply their products at subsidized prices, delivering them to families and small traders for trade, and then transferring the cost to the executive branch. Al-Gammal announced the Mishkat Nour Foundation's plan to target 100 women in various areas to empower them economically through its detergents project. The foundation markets their products through a project to convert residential units into productive units, a subprogram of the Akhlaq Kiosk project.
The foundation has empowered dozens of women with home-based cooking projects within the framework of the "People's Tekaya" project, one of the Akhlaq Kiosk projects, and various production lines in various projects in Port Said and nine other governorates, bringing the economic empowerment plan to 5,000 beneficiaries by the end of this year.
The foundation, in partnership with the governorate, has also qualified 60 women to receive factory products (Made in Port Said) for marketing within the governorate. The governorate also supports dozens of Hamidi and commercial merchants with goods from Port Said factories and covers their taxes. During the conference, the Foundation presented its second batch of various detergents, all manufactured by women who learned and trained under trainers provided by the Foundation. The products were produced at competitive prices, lower than their market counterparts, yet still maintained their quality. This enabled them to learn how to manufacture and package detergents and open the doors to a detergent trade, both those marketed by the Foundation and those the women market themselves. The Governor expressed his admiration for the detergent products and their quality after inspecting them, thanking the women who manufactured them. In a kind gesture, Major General Adel Al-Ghadban and Dr. Nour Al-Huda Al-Jammal were keen to take commemorative photos with the women and children of the Foundation's beneficiaries.
